A still life by David Sykes
The pictures of the dust storm that is sweeping over Sydney are amazing. Here is a nice collection on flickr.
Update: A set from the Big Picture just in.
It looks so beautiful and eerie, but what was it like to walk around in?
I love abandoned place, here is a great set of photos from Danny Wills of Mike Tyson’s abandoned mansion.
“Richard Galpin’s complex art works are derived from the artist’s own photographs of chaotic cityscapes. Using only a scalpel Galpin intricately scores and peels away the emulsion from the surface of the photograph to produce a radical revision of the urban form.”
Bruce Haley has some highly amusing anecdotes about being a war photographer.
My favourites include:
25. No matter how good you think you are at “holding it,” amoebic dysentery always wins….
These wonderfully flat photos of Hong Kong by Michael Wolf have been around for a while, but are still amazing.
